The Hikarimaru katana sword, “Fairy Tale” in Japanese, is forged using traditional swordsmith methods in T10 high-carbon steel, its edge ground to a brilliant clarity. Genuine black ray skin, brown diamond-braided ito, hammered brass tsuba, and a black lacquered saya adorned with white mitsu tomoe complete a sword where every fitting speaks the same language: light, intention, and mastery.

Hikarimaru Katana Sword: Where Legend Meets Steel

Its name means Fairy Tale (光丸), and from the moment you draw it, you understand why. The Hikarimaru katana sword does not announce itself with noise. It speaks in the language of still water and quiet fire: a brilliantly polished T10 steel blade that catches light like a mirror held to the sun, a jet-black lacquered saya marked with the ancient spiral of the mitsu-tomoe, a grip warm in the hand and sure under pressure. This is a katana sword with a name, and a name worth carrying.

A Koshirae Built Around an Identity

What elevates the Hikarimaru sword above comparable blades at this tier is not any single element but the coherence of the whole. Every fitting speaks the same language. The mitsu-tomoe, those three interlocking spiral magatama symbolizing the sun, light, and harmony, recur across the koshirae with the deliberate intent of a clan mon: on the saya medallions in white against deep black lacquer, on the gilded menuki beneath the ito, and on the engraved brass habaki that locks blade to handle. This thematic unity is rare. It is the signature of a piece conceived as a whole, not assembled from parts.

Traditional Craftsmanship, Uncompromising Quality

Our katanas are crafted with respect for traditional sword-making standards, offering you a reliable, durable, and beautifully finished blade. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, you’ll find the perfect katana for your needs.

Katana

Brass, Lacquer and Flame

The mokko-gata tsuba in hammered brass commands immediate attention. Its four-lobed form, one of the most historically celebrated guard shapes in the Japanese swordsmithing tradition, with shadow play across the carved surface that changes with every shift of light. The matched brass fuchi frames a tsuka wound in a brown diamond hineri-maki braid over genuine black stingray samegawa, creating a striking contrast of warmth against the surrounding black lacquer. The tsuka measures 27 cm, correctly proportioned for a two-handed grip, with even tension and clean crossing points throughout the wrap. The brass habaki, engraved with three tomoe, seats flush against blade and guard with no visible gap.

The Blade of a Fairy Tale

The Hikarimaru katana is built on a full-tang T10 steel blade of 72 cm, forged using traditional swordsmith methods into the classical shinogi-zukuri geometry: a high shinogi ridge concentrating mass along the spine, a moderate tori-zori curvature ideal for iaido nukitsuke drawing, and a chū-kissaki point defined by a clean, well-drawn yokote line. The kagami-migaki mirror polish on the shinogi-ji is bright and consistent, a level of finishing rarely matched at this price tier. The deep black lacquered saya complete a sword that is as composed in stillness as it is precise in motion, the Hikarimaru is a Fairy Tale you carry at your side.
