Amekaze Katana Sword, the Storm Forged in Steel

Rain falls. Wind rises. In Japanese sword tradition, the elements are never mere backdrop, they are force, spirit, and philosophy made visible. The Amekaze katana sword carries this truth in every line of its design. Its name unites ame (雨, rain) and kaze (風, wind), two forces that samurai understood as mirrors of combat itself: fluid yet violent, graceful yet unstoppable. This is a blade that does not ask to be noticed. It commands the room the moment it leaves its scabbard, a storm captured in steel and lacquer.

Craft Built Around the Elements

The Amekaze sword is forged using traditional swordsmith methods from T10 high-carbon steel, chosen for its hardness and its capacity to hold a fine, enduring edge. The blade follows the classical shinogi-zukuri geometry, a ridged construction with a precisely formed chu-kissaki tip and a clean yokote line that speaks to the seriousness of its grinding work. The iori-mune spine runs the full length of the back edge, while the gentle tori-zori curvature, deepest at the blade’s center, gives the katana its characteristic draw and cutting arc. Every proportion is built to honor the form.

Traditional Craftsmanship, Uncompromising Quality

A katana is more than a sword, it’s a symbol of precision, discipline, and Japanese heritage. Our katanas are crafted with respect for traditional sword-making standards, offering you a reliable, durable, and beautifully finished blade. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, you’ll find the perfect katana for your needs.

Katana

Blue Steel, Silver Wind

The blade’s most arresting feature is its full-length electric blue metallic coating, a deep, metallic hue that shifts with the light like stormwater over polished stone, accentuated by a bright silver cutting edge that breaks through at the bevel. A bo-hi fuller runs the length of the blade, reducing mass while producing the soft whistle in motion that collectors and practitioners recognize immediately. The round maru-gata tsuba in silver alloy is engraved with wind-bent reeds and birds in flight, a motif that reads as both classical and alive. The fuchi and kashira, matched in silver alloy with delicate floral relief, frame a tsuka wrapped in blue diamond-pattern tsuka-ito over white samegawa, with silver dragon menuki seated beneath the braid.

Rain and Wind, Sealed in Lacquer

The saya of the Amekaze katana is where the elemental narrative reaches its fullest expression. Hand-decorated lacquered wood carries a dramatic two-tone composition: a deep black-to-stormy-gray gradient overlaid with sweeping blue brushwork patterns that evoke gusts of wind scattering rain across a dark sky. Black kojiri and koiguchi fittings anchor the scabbard at both ends, while a blue sageo cord echoes the blade’s chromatic identity. At 71 cm of blade and 103 cm overall, weighing 1.25 kg, this is a katana with genuine physical presence. For the collector who understands that a blade is also a statement, the Amekaze katana sword delivers the storm in full.
