Hakuryū Katana Sword, the White Dragon Awakens

In the mythology of ancient Asia, the White Dragon stands apart from all others. Where the red dragon burns with ambition, the Hakuryū (白竜) embodies something rarer and more commanding: purity, wisdom, and the quiet authority of absolute self-mastery. These are not decorative concepts. They are the virtues carved into every samurai’s discipline, the virtues that demanded a blade worthy of carrying them. The Hakuryū katana sword was conceived to honor that legacy, uniting mythological symbolism with the precision and presence of a genuinely premium Japanese sword.

Forged for Legend, Built for Permanence

The Hakuryū sword is built around a full-tang T10 high-carbon steel blade, forged using traditional swordsmith methods and treated to a deep matte-to-satin black finish across its entire body. The result is one of the most visually arresting blades available at this tier: a uniform obsidian surface interrupted only by a bright, polished silver cutting edge and a clean, precisely defined shinogi ridge line running the full length of the blade. This two-tone contrast is not an accident of manufacture. It is a deliberate aesthetic statement, the darkness of the dragon body against the sharpness of its bite.

Traditional Craftsmanship, Uncompromising Quality

A katana is more than a sword, it’s a symbol of precision, discipline, and Japanese heritage. Our katanas are crafted with respect for traditional sword-making standards, offering you a reliable, durable, and beautifully finished blade. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, you’ll find the perfect katana for your needs.

Katana

A Dragon Coils Across Every Surface

The lacquered wood saya is where the Hakuryū katana declares itself most boldly. Against a deep kuro roiro ground, a large-format ryū coils dynamically across the full length of the scabbard, rendered with individual scale detail, multi-clawed feet, flowing whiskers, and an open-mouthed head, surrounded by swirling cloud formations in silver, grey, and gold tones. A second dragon pursues toward the kojiri tip, completing a paired celestial composition that covers sixty to seventy percent of the saya surface. The round tsuba in gold-tone have a high-relief takabori casting, a shishi-botan motif of exceptional decorative complexity on a black iron base, while the black-dyed samegawa handle wrap and matching fuchi and kashira maintain total koshirae unity. The menuki, positioned at traditional asymmetric points beneath the black diamond hineri-maki wrap, echo the dragon theme at the point of contact between blade and hand.

The Geometry of a True Katana

Beneath the spectacle, the Hakuryū katana sword is grounded in classical sword geometry. The shinogi-zukuri blade carries a pronounced tori-zori curvature (approximately 1.8 to 2.2 cm), placing maximum arc toward the blade center in the manner best suited to fluid iaijutsu drawing. The chu-kissaki tip is clean and well-proportioned, with a clearly defined yokote line and a subtly refined ko-shinogi, every transition crisp and intentional. The engraved gold-tone brass habaki, decorated with a fine kebori feather-and-herringbone pattern, seats flush against the hamachi with no visible gap, a premium finishing detail that elevates the entire koshirae. At 103 cm overall with a 26.5 cm tsuka and a blade weight balanced for handling, the White Dragon is not simply displayed. It is possessed.
