Fūjin Katana Sword: the Blade of the Wind God

In the pantheon of Japanese mythology, Fūjin (風神) is the god of wind, a primordial force older than the mountains, untamed and sovereign. A deity worthy of such a name demands more than steel. It demands intention. The Fūjin katana sword answers that call with a blade forged using traditional swordsmith methods in T10 steel, hand-sharpened and hand-polished to a mirror finish, paired with a koshirae of extraordinary visual coherence that commands attention from every angle.

Crafted to Honor a God

The Fūjin sword is built around a shinogi-zukuri blade with moderate tori-zori curvature, a geometry refined across centuries to balance draw-cut power with precise control. The hamon, obtained through differential clay tempering, runs in a dynamic flame-shaped undulating pattern along the edge, its boundary alive with a soft nioi mist that catches the light with quiet authority. The iori-mune spine and no-hi construction preserve the full mass and rigidity of the blade, a design choice rooted in classical Japanese sword tradition.

Traditional Craftsmanship, Uncompromising Quality

A katana is more than a sword, it’s a symbol of precision, discipline, and Japanese heritage. Our katanas are crafted with respect for traditional sword-making standards, offering you a reliable, durable, and beautifully finished blade. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, you’ll find the perfect katana for your needs.

Katana

Gold, Chrysanthemums and Steel

At the heart of this Fūjin katana lies a tsuba of uncommon ambition: a mokko-gata (four-lobed quince blossom) form, covered in dense chrysanthemum relief carving executed in takabori high-relief technique with gold and silver plating accents throughout. The fuchi and kashira form a fully matched set in the same dark metal language, their surfaces engraved with gold and silver floral motifs that echo the tsuba without repeating it. Silver-plated menuki are seated beneath the wrap at traditional positions, completing a fitting suite that speaks with a single, unified voice. A smooth brass habaki anchors the blade to the koshirae with warm precision at the hamachi junction.

Deep Indigo and Black Lacquer

The tsuka is wrapped in a tight hineri-maki diamond pattern in deep navy blue over a genuine white stingray skin samegawa, whose cream-colored nodes emerge through every window of the wrap with striking contrast. The God of Wind carries a kuro-roiro-nuri saya, a black mirror-gloss lacquered wooden scabbard so deep and reflective it needs no ornamentation to command a room. A thick kon-iro sageo in matching indigo blue, tied in an elaborate traditional knotwork presentation, runs the color thread from handle to scabbard mouth in one unbroken visual arc. At 102 cm overall with a 72 cm blade and a balanced weight of 1.4 kg, this is not merely a katana to be admired from a distance. It is a blade that asks to be drawn, held, and understood.
