A Hamon Alive with Light

The hamon of the Tenshin katana is not a printed line. It is a genuine metallurgical boundary obtained through differential quenching, a juzuba pattern of clustered circular formations resembling strings of beads, varying in grouping and rhythm in a way no mechanical process reproduces. Look closely and the habuchi reveals a textured nie boundary with a frosted crystalline quality, the bead-like formations stacking and overlapping with an organic irregularity born directly from the quenching process. The boshi continues naturally into the kissaki, confirming the integrity of the hardening all the way to the tip. This blade is equally at home in tameshigiri and on a display stand.

Dragon, Crimson and Heavenly Detail

The koshirae of the Tenshin sword speaks with equal authority. The copper tsuba is cast in round form, its surface worked in high-relief takabori and fine kebori engraving to render a coiled dragon emerging from crashing waves, with a casting sharpness and relief depth that sit well above the production-market standard. The fuchi and kashira carry wave and wind motifs in matched copper, framing a tsuka built on genuine stingray leather over solid wood and wrapped in black diamond-patterned hineri-maki braiding for a grip that is both precise and secure. Gilded menuki punctuate the wrap at their traditional positions, and a gilded brass habaki with black motifs seats cleanly at the hamachi. The orange-red lacquered wooden scabbard, fitted with a genuine horn koiguchi, closes the composition with the same vivid confidence as the blade opens it, bound by a black and red sageo that ties every element together into one unmistakable whole.
