£240.00

Damascus Steel Wavy pattern with balanced strength.
full tangBlade running through the entire handle for maximum strength.

Some blades carry a color, a meaning, a soul. The Ruri katana sword takes its name from Lapis Lazuli, the deep blue stone long associated with wisdom, and honors it fully: a Damascus steel blade swirling blue and red, blue diamond-braided silk tsuka-ito over faux white ray skin samegawa, black dragon menuki, and a hand-lacquered blue wooden saya. A Ruri sword as rare as the stone it embodies.

Ruri Katana Sword: the Blade of Lapis Lazuli

Ruri (瑠璃). In Japanese, the word evokes the deep, luminous blue of lapis lazuli, a stone long associated with intelligence, clarity, and rare beauty. This Ruri katana sword carries that name with full conviction. Its Damascus steel blade, swirling with deep blues and burning reds, commands immediate attention. The near-black oxidized body transitions into a crystalline, luminous edge, almost celestial contrast that sets this katana apart from anything in ordinary production.

Forged to Honor the Tradition

The Ruri katana is forged using traditional swordsmith methods, producing a full-tang Damascus steel blade whose layered grain catches light with organic depth and intensity. A clean bohi runs the length of the blade, its crisp channel drawing the eye along the steel while the dark oxidized ji shifts tone with every change in light. The chū-kissaki tip, finished with a clean ko-maru boshi, reflects the precision of high-quality polishing work. At 72 cm of blade length and 102 cm overall, this is a full-sized katana built to be handled with respect.

Every Damascus Sword Tells Its Own Story

Damascus steel is one of the most legendary materials in sword-making history, and its secret lies in the craft itself. Each blade is forged by folding and hammering hundreds of layers of steel together, then treated with acid to reveal the natural wavy patterns created by those layers, making every Damascus sword truly unique, no two blades ever share the exact same design. Our Damascus swords are crafted using high-quality folded steel, delivering a blade that is as beautiful as it is durable. Whether you’re a sword enthusiast or looking for a statement display piece, our Damascus swords are built to stand the test of time. Damascus Steel Katana

Blue, Black and Burnished Gold

The Ruri sword is a study in deliberate color architecture. The deeply blued lacquered wooden saya anchors the entire aesthetic, echoing the midnight depth of the blade’s oxidized surface. Above it, the tsuka is wrapped in a precise blue diamond hineri-maki over faux white ray skin, tight and evenly executed, with black dragon menuki seated at the traditional positions beneath the wrap, adding a mythical undercurrent to the grip. The warm brass habaki provides an intentional tonal bridge between the dark blade body and the black alloy fittings, a quiet gilded threshold between steel and iron. The thick blue sageo completes the waist suspension with a flourish that honors the stone this blade was named for.

The Guard, the Flowers and the Dragon

Every fitting on the Lapis Lazuli katana has been chosen to reinforce a singular visual narrative. The four-leaf clover-shaped hollow tsuba in black alloy introduces an element of organic elegance, its pierced form casting layered shadow at the blade’s base, framing the kissaki’s geometry with quiet drama. The fuchi, engraved with delicate floral motifs, and the matching black alloy kashira carry that same precision of ornament to the handle’s extremities. Together, dragon, blossom, and the deep blue of lacquer and cord, these details do not decorate this katana so much as complete it. The Ruri katana sword is a blade you do not simply acquire; it is one you recognize, the moment you hold it, as something that was made to be yours.
