Hasu Katana Sword: the Lotus Blade

In Japanese tradition, the lotus (蓮, hasu) rises from still, dark water to bloom in perfect silence, a symbol of purity, resilience, and beauty born from shadow. This Hasu katana sword translates that symbolism into steel and lacquer with rare coherence. From the brass habaki engraved with the lotus motif to the carved openwork tsuba, from the black menuki to the deep mirror lacquer of the saya and bo-hi fuller running along the blade, every element of this blade speaks the same quiet language: elegance.

A Blade Built Around One Symbol

What distinguishes the Hasu sword is its unwavering thematic unity. The T10 steel blade, forged using traditional swordsmith methods to a full tang, carries a flame-shaped hamon that runs the length of its polished face, catching light with the fluid motion of petals opening on still water. The lotus motif, carved into the sukashi tsuba, engraved into the brass habaki, and cast into the menuki, creates the kind of ensemble coherence that collectors recognize immediately. This is not decoration layered onto a sword. It is a sword built around an idea.

Traditional Craftsmanship, Uncompromising Quality

A katana is more than a sword, it’s a symbol of precision, discipline, and Japanese heritage. Our katanas are crafted with respect for traditional sword-making standards, offering you a reliable, durable, and beautifully finished blade. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, you’ll find the perfect katana for your needs.

Black Lacquer and White Lotus

The saya is finished in deep roiro-nuri mirror-black lacquer, smooth and flawless, its surface punctuated by white lotus flower medallions that read as deliberate focal points against the darkness. A bold blue sageo threads through the kurikata in vivid contrast, completing a three-color composition (kuro, shiro, ao) that is immediately arresting. The round black alloy tsuba carries hollowed-out lotus forms carved into spikes and hearts, an openwork design that lets light pass through the guard the way water moves around a stem. The black alloy fuchi and kashira frame the ensemble with quiet authority.

The Grip, the Edge and the Detail

The tsuka, wrapped in white leather diamond braiding over faux black ray skin samegawa, offers a firm, clean grip with a presence that suits both display and handling. At 72 cm of blade length and a total weight of 1.2 kg, the Hasu katana has the balanced, considered proportions of a sword made to be held as much as admired. The black menuki, themselves engraved with lotus flowers, sit precisely beneath the wrap at their traditional ergonomic positions, ensuring the grip rewards every detail of attention given to it. From the engraved habaki to the polished kissaki, this is a blade where no surface was left unconsidered, and where the Hasu sword earns its name in every line.
