£250.00

T10 Steel High hardness and excellent cutting performance.
full tangBlade running through the entire handle for maximum strength.

Where night meets stone, the Kokuzan katana sword takes form. Forged using traditional swordsmith methods in T10 high-carbon steel, it bears a genuine gunome midare hamon, its irregular temper line tracing the silhouette of a Black Mountain ridge. A black dragon menuki, black lacquered saya, and gilded habaki complete a blade as austere as it is commanding.

Kokuzan Katana Sword: the Soul of the Black Mountain

The name Kokuzan (黒山) carries the weight of ancient Japanese landscape: 黒, the deep black of night and the unknowable, and 山, the silent, immovable mountain that watches over every valley below. This Kokuzan katana sword is forged from that same duality, darkness and permanence, volatility and stillness. From the moment it leaves its scabbard, the blade announces itself with the quiet authority of a summit emerging from cloud. This is not a sword that seeks attention. It commands it.

Forged to Earn Its Place

The Kokuzan katana is built on a foundation of genuine craft. The T10 steel blade, forged using traditional swordsmith methods with a full tang, carries an authentic gunome midare hamon achieved through differential tempering, its irregular undulating peaks running uninterrupted from hamachi to kissaki like the jagged silhouette of a mountain range. A full-length bo-hi carved cleanly into the shinogi-ji reduces mass without compromising structure, and produces the unmistakable tachi-kaze wind sound on every draw. Function and beauty are not separated here. They are the same decision.

Traditional Craftsmanship, Uncompromising Quality

A katana is more than a sword, it’s a symbol of precision, discipline, and Japanese heritage. Our katanas are crafted with respect for traditional sword-making standards, offering you a reliable, durable, and beautifully finished blade. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, you’ll find the perfect katana for your needs.

Katana

A Blade That Rewards Every Look

Draw the Kokuzan sword slowly and the hamon reveals itself in layers: the flowing notare movement beneath, the superimposed gunome peaks rising and receding in organic rhythm. The chu-kissaki terminates in a crisp yokote line with a classically correct boshi, a tip geometry that speaks immediately to anyone who understands proper sword construction. A tight itame surface grain is visible above the hamon in raking light, a quiet signature of quality carbon steel forged with deliberate attention. The warm gilded habaki, hand-finished with an engraved traditional kamon motif, anchors the blade-to-handle transition with a flash of refined contrast against the surrounding darkness.

Iron, Lacquer and Deliberate Darkness

The koshirae of the Black Mountain katana is one of its most compelling achievements. The round alloy tsuba, carrying a rich near-black aged patina and intricate three-dimensional naturalistic relief, sets the aesthetic register for everything that follows. The fuchi and kashira, hand-assembled in matched dark alloy with sculpted decorative motifs, extend that vocabulary with complete coherence to both ends of the tsuka. Beneath a tightly hand-wound dark brown cotton hineri-maki in classic diamond pattern, bright white samegawa nodes emerge through each window, creating a high-contrast detail that rewards close examination. The black ishime-nuri saya, its stone-texture lacquer evoking volcanic rock, is finished with a two-tone dark brown and yellow braided sageo that echoes the colors of mountain forest in autumn. Every component was chosen to serve the whole. The result is a sword that holds its own on a wall, in the hand, and in the dojo, precisely because no element of it was left to chance.
