A blade that carries the soul of a rain-soaked morning, the Nureha katana sword draws its name from the Japanese “濡葉” (Wet Leaves), and wears that poetry in every detail. Forged using traditional swordsmith methods in blue 1060 steel, it reveals a genuine notare hamon along its edge, while the black lacquered saya, adorned with golden water droplets, transforms stillness into ornament.

The Nureha Katana Sword

holds morning dew like a jewel suspended between two worlds. This Nureha katana sword translates that poetry into steel and lacquer, from the deep midnight-blue of a blade that drinks the light, to a golden toad perched in high relief upon a sculptural silver lotus-leaf tsuba. In Japanese symbolism, the frog, kaeru, carries the meaning of return, good fortune, and safe passage, a creature forever bound to water, forever finding its way home. It does not simply hang on a wall. It commands the space around it, with the quiet authority of something that was made to be coveted.

A Blade Forged in Two Tones

The Nureha katana is built around its blade, and that blade is unlike anything in a standard collection. The 1060 carbon steel is treated with a deep aogane-style chemical oxidation that coats the body and spine in a rich blue-black finish, while the cutting edge zone is mirror-polished to a bright silver-white. A flowing notare hamon runs the full length of this contrast, its undulating wave boundary evoking the surface of still water broken by a single ripple. The chu-kissaki tip, classically proportioned with a visible ko-shinogi, closes the blade geometry with measured precision.

Traditional Craftsmanship, Uncompromising Quality

A katana is more than a sword, it’s a symbol of precision, discipline, and Japanese heritage. Our katanas are crafted with respect for traditional sword-making standards, offering you a reliable, durable, and beautifully finished blade. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, you’ll find the perfect katana for your needs.

Katana

The Frog on the Lotus

The tsuba of the Nureha sword is the centrepiece of the entire composition. Cast in the sculptural form of a leaf, its silver-tone body is carved with deep vein detail across every lobe, a surface that catches light the way standing water catches the sky. Rising from its upper portion, a fully three-dimensional toad emerges in high relief. This is not an engraved motif. It is a sculpture. The silver fuchi carries a floral pattern in gold, and the kashira answers with gold chrysanthemum heads in high-relief gilt against a silver-tone body, a cohesive gold-on-silver language spoken consistently from guard to pommel.

Gold Flakes, Silver Grip and Black Lacquer

The saya is finished in mirror-gloss black lacquer, then layered with a nashiji-inspired decoration of irregular gold metallic flakes embedded across its surface like water drops. Under direct light, the effect is immediate: depth appears inside the lacquer, clusters of gold shifting against the black ground like a fragment of night sky. A multi-color braided sageo in black, white, gold, and orange completes the scabbard with a diagonal diamond braid that adds movement to the composition. The tsuka is wrapped in silver-tone hineri-maki diamond cord over a white samegawa ground, tight, even, and brilliantly reflective. Together, the blue blade, golden toad, and galaxy-lacquered saya form a unified palette that makes the Nureha katana sword as arresting in a display cabinet as it would be in an artist’s still life, a piece that earns its place not through restraint, but through total, deliberate visual mastery.
