Kōryūka Katana Sword, Born of Shadow and Flame

Its name carries the weight of legend. Kōryūka (紅龍華) unites three kanji of singular force: (紅), the deep scarlet of living fire; Ryū (龍), the dragon, eternal symbol of sovereign power in Japanese tradition; and Ka (華), the floral magnificence that softens raw strength into something sublime. This Kōryūka katana sword does not simply reference that mythology. It materializes it, in Damascus steel, in lacquered wood, in gilded brass, in every detail of a blade conceived where power and beauty are inseparable.

Damascus Steel, Forged in Tradition

The blade of the Kōryūka sword is forged using traditional swordsmith methods in pattern-welded Damascus steel, its surface alive with an itame-masame grain that flows like water caught at the edge of freezing. Alternating bright silver and deeper grey layers travel the full length of the shinogi-ji in tight, undulating bands, each one a visible record of iron and fire shaped under pressure. The two-zone finish, stone-polished body for maximum hada clarity and mirror-polished cutting edge, ensures this blade commands attention whether in motion or at rest on its mount.

Traditional Craftsmanship, Uncompromising Quality

A katana is more than a sword, it’s a symbol of precision, discipline, and Japanese heritage. Our katanas are crafted with respect for traditional sword-making standards, offering you a reliable, durable, and beautifully finished blade. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, you’ll find the perfect katana for your needs.

Katana

Red Beneath Black, Fire Beneath Shadow

The koshirae of the Scarlet Dragon is conceived as a single visual statement. Vivid red-dyed samegawa, its pearlescent nodule texture reading clearly through every diamond window of the tight hineri-maki black cord wrap, turns the tsuka into a blade of contrast before the steel is even drawn. The lacquered wood saya answers in kind: black kuro-nuri bleeding into deep red aka-nuri across a gradual gradient, the entire surface scattered with white splatter lacquer that evokes a starfield or wind-carried ash above a fire. The black sageo grounds the ensemble. Taken together, this is a katana that does not wait to be noticed. It arrives, fully formed, the embodiment of power shaped into elegance, and it asks only to be held by someone equal to its presence.

The Dragon Wraps Every Detail

The round brass tsuba is cast in bold relief, its surface carved with waves and scrolling cloud formations and a dragon face and scale’s. The coordinated brass hardware set (tsuba, habaki, seppa, fuchi) carries matching kesho-yasuri decorative file lines and a mon roundel motif repeated across each fitting, a mark of deliberate, elevated consistency rarely found at this tier of production. The golden dragon menuki, positioned at the traditional offset points beneath the wrapping, anchor the grip with a detail that rewards the hand as much as the eye. The chū-kissaki, its yokote line crisp and precisely ground, completes a blade geometry that honors the classical shinogi-zukuri form with unmistakable care.
