Sakura Katana Sword: the Cherry Tree Blade

In Japanese culture, the cherry blossom does not simply bloom, it commands attention, briefly and absolutely, before surrendering to the wind. The Sakura katana sword (桜) carries that same unyielding presence. Its deep wine-red wooden saya, the color of aged bark in early spring, announces a blade of rare visual authority before a single inch of steel is revealed. This is a katana that transforms the space it occupies, a convergence of classical Japanese sword-making tradition and ornamental mastery that earns its name in every detail.

T10 Steel: Forged with Tradition

The Sakura sword is built around a full-tang blade in T10 tool steel, forged using traditional swordsmith methods and finished to reveal a genuine hamon obtained through differential clay tempering. The result is a notare-midare pattern of undulating waves and irregular fluctuations, with visible ashi activity tracing the edge in delicate relief. The shinogi-zukuri geometry, with its cleanly defined longitudinal ridge and medium chū-kissaki, reflects a blade profile rooted in classical Edo-period form, precise, purposeful, and unmistakably Japanese in character.

Traditional Craftsmanship, Uncompromising Quality

A katana is more than a sword, it’s a symbol of precision, discipline, and Japanese heritage. Our katanas are crafted with respect for traditional sword-making standards, offering you a reliable, durable, and beautifully finished blade. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, you’ll find the perfect katana for your needs.

Katana

A Dragon Carved in Iron

The koshirae of this Sakura katana is where ornamental ambition meets thematic discipline. The rounded tsuba is cast in a blackened iron alloy with a brass fukurin rim border, its omote face dominated by a single coiled dragon in high-relief takabori carving, scales, claws, and flowing whiskers emerging from shadow with commanding presence. The ura face deepens the composition further, wrapping the ryū-mon motif in swirling cloud and wave elements. The fuchi mirrors this decorative program in blackened metal, while the menuki anchor the grip with sculpted dragon forms traditionally offset beneath the tressage, creating a visually unified piece from habaki to kashira.

Red Wood, Black Silk and Pure Balance

The tsuka is wrapped in a tight black diamond hineri-maki over a white samegawa base with a raised nodular texture, creating a contrast that is both crisp and immediately felt in the hand. A smooth brass habaki ensures a precise fit of the blade within the wooden saya, with clean seating at both the hamachi and munemachi.

The saya, crafted from red cherry wood and finished with a transparent lacquer that reveals its natural grain and depth, is secured with a thick black sageo, worn with understated authority.

Offered either sharpened or unsharpened upon request, with a blade length of 72 cm and a total weight of 1.4 kg, this katana is equally suited for display, collection, or the deliberate practice of those who understand that a sword worth holding is a sword worth choosing with care.
