Some blades carry their meaning in their finish. The Byakuya katana sword (白夜, “White Night”) captures that duality in every detail: a polished T10 steel blade with a bo-hi groove, white lacquered saya dotted like a starry sky, red faux-rayskin tsuka wrapped in black diamond-pattern ito, and a hollow cross tsuba in black alloy. Light and darkness, forged into a single sword.

Byakuya Katana Sword: Where Light Meets Darkness

Its name means White Night (白夜), that suspended moment when light and darkness refuse to yield to one another. The Byakuya katana sword captures this duality in every detail: a white lacquered saya fractured by black spatter, a jet-black handle ignited by vivid red samegawa, a blade whose polished steel holds the stillness of dawn just before it breaks. This is not a katana that blends into its surroundings. It announces itself. Before the blade ever leaves its saya, something fundamental has already been understood about the one who carries it.

Craftsmanship That Earns the Name

The Byakuya sword is built on a classical shinogi-zukuri blade geometry forged using traditional swordsmith methods from T10 steel, a full-tang construction ground to a defined shinogi ridge and finished to a bright mirror polish. The iori-mune spine runs clean and precise from habaki to tip. The chū-kissaki is sharply formed, with a clearly defined yokote line that signals above-average blade finishing for this tier. Moderate tori-zori curvature (approximately 1.8 to 2.2 cm) gives the draw a natural, fluid arc, functional for iaido practice and test cutting alike.

Traditional Craftsmanship, Uncompromising Quality

A katana is more than a sword, it’s a symbol of precision, discipline, and Japanese heritage. Our katanas are crafted with respect for traditional sword-making standards, offering you a reliable, durable, and beautifully finished blade. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, you’ll find the perfect katana for your needs.

Katana

Red Fire, Black Discipline

Beneath the black diamond-pattern hineri-maki wrapping, vivid red samegawa covers the wooden tsuka core. The irregular organic nodes of the ray skin imitation press through the lacing with a tactile presence, a warm, almost living texture that grounds every grip. The wrapping itself is executed with even diamond spacing and consistent tension across the full 26.5 cm handle length, a detail that separates this piece from standard production work. The menuki, correctly positioned on both omote and ura sides beneath the ito, depict a black dragon, coiled and precise. Matte black fuchi and kashira frame the assembly, with gold-toned serrated seppa adding a refined accent between components. The mokko-gata tsuba, shaped as a four-lobed hollow flower, breaks entirely from the conventional round guard and delivers an architectural silhouette rooted in historical form.

The Saya That Stops the Room

The White Night lives most fully in the saya. White lacquered wood is scattered with irregular black droplets in an ishime-nuri inspired tobikawa-nuri finish, a surface that evokes a moonlit sky scattered with shadow rather than stars. Black accent bands ring the koiguchi and kurikata zone, a black cord sageo completes the assembly, and the overall silhouette against any display surface is immediate and unmistakable. At 103 cm total length with a 71 cm blade and a weight of 1.25 kg, the Byakuya katana carries with the easy authority of a sword designed to be both drawn and displayed. Purity fractured by darkness, discipline set against flame: every element of this sword holds its opposite in perfect, deliberate tension.
