The T10 blade is forged using traditional swordsmith methods, shaped in the classical shinogi-zukuri geometry with a well-defined mid-to-high shinogi, an iori-mune ridged spine, and a chū-kissaki of refined, balanced proportion. The blade carries no bo-hi groove, a deliberate choice that places every point of visual focus on the hamon and the ji surface. The curvature follows a gentle tori-zori arc, proportions that have defined functional katana geometry since the Momoyama period, and that remain ideal for smooth, committed draw.

Hamon: the Dragon’s Breath

What distinguishes this black dragon sword from the ordinary is visible before the blade is even drawn. The clay-tempered hamon unfolds in a choji pattern. Short ashi projections descend from the habuchi into the ha, evidence of genuine temper activity and depth. At the kissaki, the hamon resolves in a clean boshi, the rounded turnback historically appropriate to classical blade design. Polished in combination finish, with a refined hadori-quality surface near the hamon and a satin-brushed shinogi-ji above, the blade catches light in two registers simultaneously, steel and fire.

Koshirae: One Dragon

On a black dragon samurai sword of this ambition, no fitting exists in isolation.
