Shikihana Katana Sword, Beauty Forged in Steel

The Shikihana katana sword (紫花) takes its name from two kanji of rare depth: 紫, the deep crimson long associated with Japanese royalty and spiritual power, and 花, the flower, symbol of precious and fleeting beauty. This is not a blade that merely occupies space. It commands it. From the swirling Damascus grain rolling across its surface to the blood-red samegawa blazing beneath black diamond wrapping, the Shikihana katana is the visual declaration of a warrior’s soul rendered in steel, lacquer, and light.

A Blade That Earns Its Name

The Shikihana sword is forged using traditional swordsmith methods in pattern-welded Damascus steel, its layers manipulated and acid-etched to reveal a bold ō-mokume grain, sweeping wood-burl formations that surge and spiral across the full blade length. The shinogi-zukuri construction, the classical ridged cross-section of the samurai katana, is preserved in its purest form: a clean iori-mune spine, a moderate tori-zori curvature that balances elegance with presence, and a chū-kissaki tip of historically proportionate geometry. No fuller interrupts the wide, unbroken shinogi-ji panel. Every line is deliberate.

Traditional Craftsmanship, Uncompromising Quality

A katana is more than a sword, it’s a symbol of precision, discipline, and Japanese heritage. Our katanas are crafted with respect for traditional sword-making standards, offering you a reliable, durable, and beautifully finished blade. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, you’ll find the perfect katana for your needs.

Katana

Red, Black, and Gold

At the base, a warm brass habaki sits as a golden accent between the silver steel and the black-patinated tsuba, a multi-lobed chrysanthemum form with raised relief surface work and a nanako-ji fish-roe ground texture that catches light like hammered silk. The matched fuchi and kashira in smooth black alloy complete the metalwork with quiet authority, unified by the menuki depicting a black dragon, guardian of wisdom, positioned at the traditional locations beneath the tightly executed black diamond wrap.

The Deep Red Flower in Your Hand

Beneath the black hineri-maki tressage, vivid crimson samegawa blazes through each diamond opening, its characteristic nodule texture saturated in deep red, the color of 紫, the color of imperial distinction. This tension between the restraint of black and the intensity of crimson defines the Shikihana’s identity from tsuka to saya. The scabbard is lacquered wood finished in a rare crackle lacquer technique: a deep burgundy base split by white craquelure lines, an artistic surface that evokes antique feudal armory rather than modern production. A black sageo completes the assembly. Together, every component of this katana forms a single, unified aesthetic declaration, one that needs no explanation and tolerates no equal on any display wall.
