Noboru Katana Sword: the Blade of Ascension

Its name means ascension. In the language of Japanese katana swords, that word carries weight: the rising arc of a blade drawn cleanly from its saya, the climb toward mastery, the elevation of craft into something closer to art. The Noboru katana sword earns that name in every detail, from the coiling dragon that commands the guard to the luminous hamon that travels the full length of a mirror-polished T10 steel blade. This is not a sword that asks for attention. It demands it.

Forged Through Tradition

The Noboru katana is built on a T10 tool steel blade forged using traditional swordsmith methods, then subjected to differential clay tempering to produce a genuine suguha hamon, that clean, composed straight line running blade to kissaki, luminous against the mirror-polished ji surface. The chu-kissaki is hand-finished to a sharp, well-defined yokote, and the shinogi ridge sits high and precise along the blade’s full length, creating the edge geometry that serious practitioners of tameshigiri and iaido recognize immediately as a mark of quality construction above the ordinary.

Traditional Craftsmanship, Uncompromising Quality

A katana is more than a sword, it’s a symbol of precision, discipline, and Japanese heritage. Our katanas are crafted with respect for traditional sword-making standards, offering you a reliable, durable, and beautifully finished blade. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, you’ll find the perfect katana for your needs.

The Dragon Guards Every Surface

The koshirae of the Noboru sword is built around a strong dragon theme, treated as the central focus rather than simple decoration. The tsuba, made from iron or brass alloy, is gold and silver plated and finely engraved. It depicts a dragon biting its own tail, deeply sculpted with strong relief and clear detailing, with heavy carving that gives real depth and presence. The fuchi and kashira, also gold and silver plated, carry the same level of finish, ensuring visual continuity across the fittings. The menuki reinforce the theme with additional dragon motifs, enhancing the overall presence of the grip.

Presence in the Hand: Power on the Wall

The tsuka is wrapped in genuine samegawa, its white cream tubercles visible through every hishi-gata diamond opening in the deep reddish-brown hineri-maki ito, tight, even, and consistent from fuchi to kashira. A hallmarked brass habaki seats cleanly at the blade’s base, and the natural wood-grain saya, finished to preserve and display the wood’s own character, closes the composition with an organic warmth that anchors the metal-rich fittings above it. At 72 cm of blade and 1.2 kg of balanced mass, the Noboru katana sword carries the full presence of a feudal lord’s personal weapon, a blade where every surface tells a story, and the story is one of ascension.
