Shirokin Katana Sword: Where Black Meets Gold

Its name is written in two characters: 白金. White. Gold. In Japanese tradition, these two elements are not opposites but complements, the purity of sincerity meeting the weight of honor. The Shirokin katana sword is built on that duality, a blade of deep obsidian black rising from a koshirae where gold flows across every surface. From black the mirror-lacquered saya coiling with ascending gold motifs to the diamond-wrapped tsuka shimmering in metallic gold, this is a katana that commands the room before it is ever drawn.

Craftsmanship Forged in Contrast

The Shirokin sword is built on a full-tang 1060 carbon steel blade forged using traditional swordsmith methods, finished in a deep chemical black that transforms the ji surface into a darkened canvas of striking depth. Against this blackened ground, the wide notare hamon traces its undulating path in brilliant silver-white, a broad, wave-form boundary occupying a dramatic portion of the blade width. The shinogi-zukuri profile, with its clearly defined central ridge and moderate tori-zori curvature, follows the classical geometry of the Edo period. The chū-kissaki terminates with a clean yokote line, precise and deliberate.

Traditional Craftsmanship, Uncompromising Quality

A katana is more than a sword, it’s a symbol of precision, discipline, and Japanese heritage. Our katanas are crafted with respect for traditional sword-making standards, offering you a reliable, durable, and beautifully finished blade. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, you’ll find the perfect katana for your needs.

Katana

A Gold Koshirae

Every component of this Shirokin katana speaks the same visual language. The circular tsuba, cast in a bimetallic gold-and-silver alloy, combines ji-sukashi openwork with three-dimensional relief casting to render in extraordinary detail, shishi and floral elements emerging from the space in commanding fashion. The tsuka is hand-wrapped in a hineri-maki diamond pattern using gold metallic cord over white samegawa, producing a two-tone grip of rare visual impact. Golden menuki rest beneath the wrap at traditional positions. The fuchi and kashira carry matching floral and scale-pattern reliefs, unifying the entire fitting ensemble in a coherent decorative vocabulary from pommel to guard.

The Saya That Becomes the Statement

The lacquered wooden saya of the Shirokin katana sword is finished in roiro-nuri, a high-gloss mirror-black lacquer of exceptional depth and evenness. Across this darkened surface, ascending gold motif from koiguchi toward kojiri in hand-applied gold. A gold sageo, tied in an elaborate decorative knot at the koiguchi, completes an ensemble where no surface has been left unconsidered. This is the kind of platinum-level finish that turns a collector’s cabinet into a sanctuary, and a bare wall into a declaration of reverence for the Japanese sword tradition.
