Born in the Heian period (794 to 1185), shaped after the tachi and worn at the side, the kodachi stood at the crossroads of elegance and lethality. With its characteristic blade length of 40 to 65 cm, it embodied a refinement that would define Japanese sword culture for centuries. This kodachi katana is built around a Damascus-style folded steel blade, where the genuine patterning of the steel flows across the surface in organic waves of itame and mokume hada, wood-burl and wood-eye grain visible to the naked eye. No print, no decal. A real folded structure that catches light differently at every angle. Paired with a matched rosewood handle and scabbard in warm reddish-brown tones, and completed by cast bronze fittings with an antiqued patina, creating a timeless and authentic look.

The shinogi-zukuri construction gives the blade a defined ridge line and a broad, polished ji that showcases the folded steel hada in full. A full-length bo-hi runs cleanly along the upper portion of the blade, its sharp edges producing a characteristic sound in motion and lending the silhouette a visual sharpness that extends from habaki to kissaki. The chū-kissaki is geometrically sound, with a well-defined yokote line and a moderate tori-zori curvature of approximately 1.5 to 2.0 cm, functional and elegant in equal measure.
