The Shiragiku katana sword takes its name from the white chrysanthemum, imperial emblem of feudal Japan, rendered here in a dark-grey alloy tsuba with more than 24 petals. Its T10 steel blade carries a two-tone black and grey finish crowned by a choji hamon, while faux white rayskin, diamond-woven black ito, and a gilded dragon menuki complete a sword built around one uncompromising idea: beauty with full-tang purpose.

Shiragiku Katana Sword: Where Steel Meets Art

There are blades built to cut, and there are blades built to endure. The Shiragiku katana sword (白菊) belongs to a rare third category: katana swords that stop time the moment they leave the scabbard. From the first draw, a constellation of crystalline nie erupts along the T10 steel blade, while the hand-lacquered saya reveals a sweeping monochromatic fresco. This is a katana that commands attention before a single cut is made.

A Chrysanthemum Forged in Iron

The Shiragiku, meaning “white chrysanthemum” in Japanese, takes its name from one of the most sacred symbols in Japanese culture: the imperial flower, emblem of longevity, nobility, and the eternal renewal of the spirit. This identity is given physical form in the tsuba, a dark iron-grey alloy guard sculpted into a chrysanthemum bloom of more than 24 petals, its lobed silhouette radiating with the precision of a flower at full opening. In feudal Japan, the chrysanthemum was the exclusive crest of the emperor. To carry it on a blade was not decoration. It was a declaration.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, you’ll find the perfect katana for your needs.

Katana

The Blade and Its Fire

Forged using traditional swordsmith methods in T10 steel with a full tang construction, the Shiragiku blade presents a dual-tone finish of deep black and cool grey, polished to a mirror on the shinogi-ji while the ji zone transitions into a satin surface that throws the hamon into sharp relief. A choji hamon runs the full 72 cm of the blade, its clove-shaped formations creating a rhythmic, organic pattern along the edge. The chu-kissaki closes the blade with a cleanly defined yokote line, evidence of careful, deliberate polishing work. The moderate tori-zori curvature and high shinogi position combine into a geometry built equally for the discipline of iaido and the precision of tameshigiri.

A Scabbard Worth Displaying Alone

The grey-black lacquered wood saya is not a housing. It is a composition. Across its surface, an atmospheric sumi-e style pictorial scene unfolds in monochromatic layers of grey, white, and deep black. The whole rendered with the tonal depth of ink-wash painting. A white kurikata provides a deliberate contrast accent against the dark lacquer, while the black sageo completes the presentation with quiet authority. The tsuka, hand-assembled over faux white ray skin with a tight black diamond hineri-maki ito wrap, frames gilded dragon menuki and a warm brass habaki that bridges dark fittings to bright steel. The fuchi, engraved with floral and leaf motifs in dark grey alloy, and the silver-colored alloy kashira close a fully matched set of unified, coherent elegance. The Shiragiku sword is both a functional blade and a work of art that asks to be held, drawn, and displayed with equal pride.
