The Aomikado Katana Sword, Where Tradition Meets Bold Vision

Ao (青), the deep blue of the open sky. Mikado (帝), the emperor of Japanese tradition. Together, these two kanji give birth to the Aomikado katana sword, a blade that carries imperial weight in every line. From the sweeping tori-zori curvature to the chū-kissaki point, the silhouette is unmistakably that of a classical Edo-period daito.

A Blade Reimagined as Art

The Aomikado sword is built on a full-tang T10 steel blade measuring 71 cm, forged using traditional swordsmith methods and finished with a gradient blue treatment that deepens from sky-blue at the cutting edge to deep navy toward the spine. Running the full length of the blade, precisely engraved white kamon medallions (family crests) create a repeating ornamental rhythm against the metallic blue surface. The shinogi-zukuri ridge geometry and iori-mune peaked spine are preserved exactly as they appear on historical katana, grounding this contemporary vision in authentic structural tradition.

Traditional Craftsmanship, Uncompromising Quality

A katana is more than a sword, it’s a symbol of precision, discipline, and Japanese heritage. Our katanas are crafted with respect for traditional sword-making standards, offering you a reliable, durable, and beautifully finished blade. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, you’ll find the perfect katana for your needs.

Katana

The Galaxy in Your Hand

The saya of the Blue Emperor is a showpiece in its own right. A deep black lacquered wood core serves as the canvas for an abstract expressionist pattern of cobalt blue, electric blue, and metallic gold, encased beneath an ultra-high-gloss mirror resin coat that creates a glass-like, sealed surface with extraordinary visual depth. A black collar at the koiguchi (saya mouth) provides a clean, high-contrast termination, while the black braided sageo cord ties through the kurikata in traditional configuration. No two gazes at this scabbard yield quite the same result: the galaxy shifts with the light, and with your angle of view.

A Unified Aesthetic, Flawlessly Executed

Every fitting on the Aomikado katana belongs to a coherent design system built around black, gold, and imperial motifs. The round sukashi tsuba in blackened alloy features eight evenly distributed spade-shaped cutouts drawn from Edo-period iron tsuba traditions, clean, precise, and architecturally satisfying. The brass habaki is engraved with the kamon crest, echoing the medallions on the blade itself. Gold-toned fuchi and kashira frame a tsuka wrapped in crisp hineri-maki diamond ito in deep black over white samegawa, with a pair of gold menuki set beneath the wrap. At 103 cm overall and 1.25 kg, this is a piece designed to be displayed, admired, and held by those who understand that a katana can be both an object of tradition and a statement of vision.
