Snake Katana: Where Myth Coils Into Steel

In Japanese tradition, the serpent is no ordinary creature. The hebi is a guardian, a symbol of water deities, spiritual rebirth, and cyclical power, revered across centuries of myth and ceremony. This snake katana was conceived to carry that weight in full. From the moment it leaves its scabbard, every element speaks the same language: coiled bronze, warm amber, and the quiet authority of a blade whose fittings were designed not as ornament, but as a coherent visual declaration.

A Blade Worthy of Its Legend

The blade of this snake sword is forged using traditional swordsmith methods in T10 high-carbon steel, ground to a clean shinogi-zukuri profile with a moderate tori-zori curvature and a well-defined chū-kissaki at the tip. The bo-hi surface, mirror-polished to a bright silver finish, lets the geometry speak for itself, pure, precise, and deliberately uncluttered. At 72 cm, the nagasa sits at the ideal katana sword length, balancing reach and handling. The brass habaki seats cleanly at the hamachi, completing the transition between blade and the extraordinary koshirae that follows.

Traditional Craftsmanship, Uncompromising Quality

A katana is more than a sword, it’s a symbol of precision, discipline, and Japanese heritage. Our katanas are crafted with respect for traditional sword-making standards, offering you a reliable, durable, and beautifully finished blade. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, you’ll find the perfect katana for your needs.

Katana

The Serpent in Bronze

The tsuba of this snake katana is its undisputed centerpiece. Cast in antiqued brass and bronze alloy with a deliberately applied two-tone patina, it depicts a coiled cobra wrapping twice around the guard in high-relief sculpture. This is not a flat engraving or a surface motif: the serpent rises from the metal in three dimensions, its dorsal and ventral scale textures individually rendered, its open-mouthed cobra head projecting forward with unmistakable presence. At the blade entry point, the seppa-dai carries a delicate kikko-mon hexagonal pattern, a refined counterpoint to the drama surrounding it. The overall diameter sits at standard-to-large for a katana, giving the hand an immediate sense of substance the moment it closes around the tsuka.

Total Unity

What elevates this snake sword beyond a single striking component is the complete coherence of the entire koshirae. The menuki beneath the ito are cast as small coiled serpents in matching antiqued bronze, positioned at traditional offsets, adding grip purchase while echoing the tsuba. The kashira carries the same hebi motif, and the fuchi is engraved with scrolling karakusa complementing the serpent theme across the full length of the handle. The tsuka-ito, wrapped in a consistently tensioned hineri-maki diamond pattern in warm amber golden-ochre, ties the warm bronze palette together with a color rarely seen on production pieces. The saya, lacquered in rich burnt-orange terracotta with an all-over deep black karakusa and mythological beast overlay, references the elaborately decorated ceremonial parade mountings of the Edo period. From the cobra head on the tsuba to the lacquer of the kojiri, every element of this katana was designed as part of a single vision, and it shows.
