Ōrāshī Katana Sword: Where the Golden Lion Awakens

Its name alone carries the weight of royalty. Ōrāshī, written 金獅子, translates as Golden Lion in Japanese, a title that summons the sovereign force of the samurai tradition and the spiritual radiance of gold. The moment your eyes fall on this blade, the dual-tone steel speaks before any word can: a copper-bronze spine glowing warm against a mirror-polished bright silver edge, a meeting of light and metal that no standard katana dares to attempt. This is a sword built to command silence.

A Blade Forged in Two Tones

The Ōrāshī sword is built around a shinogi-zukuri blade geometry, the most prestigious classical form in Japanese sword-making, with a fully defined ridge running its entire length and a refined chū-kissaki tip that echoes the proportions of late Edo-period craftsmanship. The gilded manganese steel blade, forged using traditional swordsmith methods and finished by hand, presents a warm copper-bronze surface treatment across the spine and shinogi-ji that transitions into a bright, mirror-polished silver edge zone. The result is a blade with a presence closer to a sculpted artifact than a functional weapon.

Traditional Craftsmanship, Uncompromising Quality

A katana is more than a sword, it’s a symbol of precision, discipline, and Japanese heritage. Our katanas are crafted with respect for traditional sword-making standards, offering you a reliable, durable, and beautifully finished blade. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, you’ll find the perfect katana for your needs.

Katana

Dragon, Cloud and Flame

Every component of the Ōrāshī katana answers to the same mythological calling. The large circular tsuba, cast in antiqued bronze with a black-and-gold finish, features wind and waves rendered in high-relief, elemental forces frozen in metal with restless energy. The ryū-kashira at the pommel is its crowning element: a full dragon head carved in gilded copper, scales articulated, horns sharp, mane flowing, expression fierce. The fuchi mirrors the theme with wind-and-wave relief, and gilded dragon menuki anchor the grip beneath the tight black diamond-wrap tsuka-ito. The samegawa beneath, fitted against solid wood, adds texture and depth to a handle designed as much for the eye as for the hand.

The Saya That Belongs in a Display Case

The solid wood scabbard of the Golden Lion katana is finished in deep gloss black lacquer scattered with gold-splash decoration, irregular gold flecks of varying sizes pooled across the surface like embers caught in darkness. A black sageo, reinforced koiguchi, and a gilded kurikata complete an object that commands its own space before the blade is ever drawn. The habaki, in gilded brass with refined black geometric motifs, secures the blade with the quiet precision of a well-resolved detail. From the copper warmth of the spine to the last gleam of gold on the saya, every surface of the Ōrāshī katana tells the same story: strength made radiant, power made permanent, a sword worthy of the lion that gave it its name.
